Federal Pilot

A.I.S., Inc. (AIS) is a national scientific services firm supporting maritime activities requiring certification of compliance with environmental regulations as well as collecting data for use by Federal, State, Municipal, and other government agencies along the US coastline. AIS is looking for federally licensed marine first-class Pilots for vessels of unlimited tonnage to board U.S.-flagged vessels that may require pilot escort (due to vessel displacement or length) into and out of ports in the New England region.

Primary Function:

Federally Licensed Pilots standby, and in the event of local Pilot unavailability will board US-flagged vessels, providing professional guidance to assist the master/captain in the safe navigation to and from port. Pilots will potentially deploy out of ports in RI and/or MA and will be on-call for the duration of this project, available 24/7 as needed. On-call rotations will be arranged.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Compensation: Salary to be negotiated based on experience as a federally licensed First Class Pilot. Travel expenses to and from ports not reimbursed. This is a full–time temporary position. For long term placements on AIS projects, the eligibility threshold for the AIS benefits package is reached after 90 days. AIS benefits package includes health and dental insurance, vacation, sick and holiday benefits.
